Rarest Gliders in Fortnite (2026)
Fortnite has hundreds of gliders in the game. Some are common, some are rare, and some are so rare that most players have never even seen them in the wild.
But what actually makes a glider rare?
It comes down to three things: being released in the early seasons when the playerbase was tiny (like the Founder’s Glider), being tied to a limited-time event that never came back (like the Snowflake umbrella), or being locked behind an exclusive promotion (like Discovery, Rotor, etc).
And honestly, most of them are incredibly difficult to obtain today, and for some of them, the chances of them ever returning to the shop are looking pretty slim.
So if you’re curious about which gliders carry the most prestige in Fortnite, you’re in the right place. Here are the top 10 rarest gliders ever released in Fortnite.
Top 10 Rarest Gliders in Fortnite

Glider rarity in Fortnite is not as straightforward as it might seem. It’s not just about how old a glider is or how cool it looks. A combination of factors was considered, including how it was obtained, how long it was available, how many players realistically could have gotten it, and whether there’s any realistic chance of it returning. Some of these gliders were locked behind expensive hardware, some were rewards for early-season grinds, and some were simply never advertised properly.
10. Blue Streak Glider

Release date: February 14th, 2018
How it was obtained: By purchasing PlayStation Plus.
Why it is rare today: The Blue Streak glider was part of the PlayStation Plus Celebration Pack 1, which was available during Season 1. Anyone who had a PlayStation Plus subscription could redeem the pack along with the Blue Streak glider.
Because of the platform exclusivity, only players with a PlayStation can claim PlayStation Pack-based gliders. This significantly limited the number of players who could own this glider. However, compared to the other gliders on this list, the Blue Streak glider was available for a slightly longer window, which means a lot of players had a chance to get it compared to the other gliders on this list.
As a platform-exclusive and PlayStation Pack-based glider, it is permanently exclusive and may never return as a shop item.
9. Beast Brella

Release date: December 18th, 2022
How it was obtained: By placing in the Top 100,000 (requiring at least 85,040 points) during MrBeast’s Extreme Survival Challenge in Chapter 4: Season 1.
Why it is rare today: It was the prize for a highly competitive tournament hosted by MrBeast. Only the top 100,000 players in the tournament could have it. Because of this, it can potentially be the least owned glider.
The Beast Brella glider, being an Icon Series with MrBeast’s legacy and its high acquisition difficulty, immediately made its entrance into one of the rarest umbrella gliders.
MrBeast’s Extreme Survival Challenge was an exclusive one-time tournament. That’s why, as a tournament exclusive item, it will not be available as a shop item or any other kind of reward. As years have passed, many gliders have returned to the shops, but this one will forever remain exclusive to those top 100,000 players. Making it one of the most scarce gliders in the game to date.
8. Flappy

Release date: September 12th, 2018
How it was obtained: By purchasing PlayStation Plus.
Why it is rare today: Flappy is similar to the Blue Streak glider that we discussed before. Similarly, the platform exclusivity makes it a very rare glider.
However, what makes it come out on top of the Blue Streak glider is that it was available for a short window, and not many players could claim it.
Because of the platform exclusivity, like the Blue Streak Glider, and the short available time, it is one of the rarest gliders, even amongst the other platform-exclusive gliders.
Flappy has no shop rotation or V-Bucks price, just like the Blue Streak glider. It has been vaulted permanently since 2018. Considering how long ago it was released, alongside its platform exclusivity, you rarely see it these days, and many consider it one of the OG gliders a player can have.
7. Stealth Pivot

Release date: April 11th, 2019
How it was obtained: By purchasing an Nvidia GeForce Graphics card
Why it is rare today: If Flappy’s platform exclusivity seemed unfair to you, you are in for a surprise. Stealth Pivot was part of the GeForce Fortnite Bundle 2, and you could only get that bundle if you purchased one of the eligible Nvidia GeForce graphics cards.
The price range for the eligible graphics cards was $109 to $409. It was a very high price for a glider back then, and not every player could afford it. On one hand, PC players could at least benefit from the purchase, but console players were completely left out. This narrowed down the player base who could own this glider even more.
Similar to Flappy, as a hardware exclusive and a promotional bonus item, Stealth Pivot hasn’t returned to any item shop, and it is unlikely to return. This makes stealth pivot one of the most premium and rare gliders. (There is another promotional glider later in this list, and that’s even more expensive and rarer!)
6. High Octane

Release date: February 22nd, 2018
How it was obtained: By completing the tier 100 challenges in Chapter 1: Season 3
Why it is rare today: High Octane was one of the hardest to grind gliders ever. It was part of the Hired Gun set. You had to complete 100 challenges. Like dealing 1,000 damage in a match, finding 7 chests in a single game, getting Pickaxe eliminations, etc. 100s of these, and you had to be a battle pass owner to be able to access these challenges.
This made it hard for just anyone to get this glider. You had to be a truly dedicated player to obtain High Octane. Not that many players could get their hands on it, and because of John Wick’s fanbase, it is one of the most sought-after gliders (especially the fan-favorite car-like revving sound it makes). Making it one of the most liked and rarest vaulted gliders.
5. Rotor

Release date: October 5th, 2018
How it was obtained: By purchasing the Nintendo Switch
Why it is rare today: Just like the Stealth Pivot glider(#7 on the list), Rotor is a promotional bonus and a hardware-exclusive glider part of the Double Helix set. This alone puts it on a level above your average gliders. However, compared to the other promotional bonuses or hardware-exclusive gliders, this one was released much earlier to a smaller player base and with a higher average price.
You could purchase the Nintendo Switch at that time for $299.99, and it was only available for a very limited time. This makes Rotor owners very rare, and the symbol for one of the OG supporters of Fortnite.
4. Discovery

Release date: November 2nd, 2018
How it was obtained: By purchasing an eligible Samsung device
Why it is rare today: The most expensive promotional and hardware-exclusive glider on this list. You had to purchase one of the eligible Samsung devices (ranging from $649 to $1,249) to get the Galaxy Bundle. Discovery was part of that Galaxy Bundle.
Almost as old as Rotor(#5 on the list) and released only a month later. Because of the high price, the players who got to claim Discovery are likely way less than other hardware-exclusive gliders. On top of that, Jazwares, a global leading toy company, produced a 4-inch toy version of Discovery, and it was released as merchandise. Making it one of the few gliders with such high influence on the real world.
If owning Rotor made you one of the OG supporters, then owning Discovery makes you one of the OG investors of Fortnite!
3. Snowflake Umbrella

Release date: December 14th, 2017
How it was obtained: Win a match of solos, duos, or squads during the limited time.
Why it is rare today: After all the highly expensive gliders like Stealth Pivot, Rotor, and Discovery being mentioned, it seems as if rarity is just bound to how costly a glider was. However, that’s not it. True exclusivity is something money cannot buy. The Snowflake Umbrella… No, it would be more appropriate to call it the “Secret” Snowflake Umbrella.
Very few people own the Snowflake Umbrella. It wasn’t as expensive as Discovery, it was free, and it didn’t have limited stock like Beast Brella. Even though obtaining the Snowflake Umbrella was relatively simple, nobody knew there was a winter-special Snowflake Umbrella. There was no notice or a pop-up in the game for it. Epic Games quietly announced it on their X(Twitter) account, and only people who followed them were aware of this secret addition.
This unique lore and the easter egg vibe added a great charm to the Snowflake Umbrella, and it became one of the rarest and OG gliders to ever exist in the game. Some people would even go as far as to call it the rarest!
2. Founder’s Glider

Release date: September 25th, 2017
How it was obtained: Players had to buy the Founder’s Pack in Fortnite: Save the World, and the Founder’s Glider was a common drop from that pack.
Why it is rare today: Similarly to the Snowflake umbrella, this one boasts true exclusivity. And not just exclusivity, the people who have this are truly the real supporters of Fortnite OG. As it is in the name, their prestige is on the level of a founder. The Founder’s Packs sold in Fortnite: Save the World were used as funds for developing Fortnite.
Although anyone could purchase the Founder’s Packs and get early access, Fortnite had no fanbase back then. Players who actually spent money on the game and contributed to the game’s creation are often referred to as the “Players of the first hour,” giving a completely different level of prestige to their name. Some may even consider this the rarest glider in the game due to its legacy and how it’s permanently exclusive after the Founder’s packs discontinued on June 29th 2020. And that’s a completely fair assessment.
However, because it was still available for players to get for nearly 3 years after its release, there is a glider that can actually contest for the number one spot against such an OG item due to it being the longest vaulted glider ever. And that is…
1. Mako

Release date: October 26th, 2017
How it was obtained: Reaching Season Level 25 in Chapter 1, Season 1.
Why it is rare today: In Chapter 1: Season 1, there was no battle pass. Instead, it was a simple seasonal level grind. You had to reach level 25 to obtain the Mako Glider. There were no quests, milestones, or limited-time modes. Playing matches, surviving, and getting kills were the only ways to get XP and level up. This made it more challenging. Very few players from that season have Mako, making it extremely rare even for the OG players.
Unlike Founder’s Glider, Mako was only available for less than 3 months. Ever since then, it has been vaulted for over 3,000 days. And it will most likely remain that way forever. Why? Season 1 and 2 rewards are permanently exclusive, as stated by Epic Games.
Are Rare Gliders Still Obtainable?
After seeing that the top 10 rarest gliders in Fortnite are all completely exclusive and hardware-gated, it is understandable to feel disheartened. We all want to own rare skins and equipment in our favorite games. It is one of the best ways to show your passion for the game and connect with the community.
So, is it really impossible for someone who just joined the game to obtain such rare gliders?
The answer is no. You can still obtain rare gliders. Though it may not be through normal means for the extremely rare ones.
How Players Get Rare Gliders in Fortnite Today
Players can get rare gliders officially or unofficially. There have been cases of very rare gliders being accidentally brought back to the shop. Mako(#1 on the list) was accidentally brought back into the item shop for a day. And when Epic Games realised their mistake, they removed Mako from the shop again, but in that brief window, a few people got their hands on the Mako.
So, one way is to always stay updated with the shop or any updates. Because even if not accidentally, Epic Games does bring the exclusive rare ones back. Aerial Assault One Glider was considered the rarest glider for a long time by a majority of the community until Epic Games brought it back on December 20th 2024.
However, you cannot officially obtain gliders that have been declared as permanently vaulted. You may find some unused codes on eBay, especially for gliders that were connected to a physical item, like the Nintendo Switch or the Galaxy devices (if still valid). However, they are extremely costly and not a reliable method. One of the only ways to reliably get rare gliders that are no longer available officially is through purchasing Fortnite Accounts that have those gliders. Many OG players no longer play the game, and they prefer to sell their accounts for some quick cash instead.
